The Aryabhatta-Shankara Neurotech Society (TASNS) is the voice of Unwired India, representing brain scientists and computational scientists from all over the world. Building our foundation on the names of renowned Indian mathematician, Aryabhatta who defined zero and its operations, and Indian philosopher, Adi Shankara who gave the world the concept of "Advaita" (non-duality/oneness), TASNS employs biomimetic and technomimetic approaches to unravel the mysteries of the human brain through robust AI-driven models & frameworks.
The Aryabhatta-Shankara Neurotech Society (TASNS) is an attempt to commemorate the achievements of Indian pioneers in the field of science. The world knows Aryabhatta as the great mathematician who defined zero. Adi Shankara was the philosopher who gave us the concept of Advaita Vedanta meaning, non duality or oneness. Pingala was an ancient Sanskrit grammarian who described long and short stressed syllables in verse by referring to them as “guru” and “laghu” which is regarded as the earliest known discussion of the binary numeral system. By bringing these two concepts together we get to the very foundation of our binary systems; zeros and ones. These form the basis of all civilisation and are essential to how technology really works. Not just in the digital world but in our brains too, tasks are carried out fundamentally in zeros and ones. Which brings us to the very postulation that brains and computers are essentially parallel to each other in structure and function.
TASNS celebrates and honours this very foundation which emphasises the connection between biological and artificial intelligence. By studying the computations of natural intelligence (our brain), artificial intelligence aims to create machines that can perform tasks of decision making, control and recognition. The idea is to enhance and realise the potential of Neuro-technology and bring it to the masses.
TASNS integrates the basic understandings of zeros & ones; bringing together cognitive brain scientists & computer scientists from all over the world to engage in collaborative R&D that together seeks to unravel neuronal networks through binary matrices and applications.
The core basics of computational studies are nothing but zeros and ones. Together at The Aryabhatta-Shankara Neurotech Society, we explore this erudite journey from 0 to nothingness and from 1 to oneness, covering all the uncharted areas of the brain through technology.
A major goal at Unwired India has always been to bring about scientific awareness and literacy. This society aims to do just that by opening up the world of research and theory and interacting with it in relatable ways. At TASNS we bring together people from different walks of life, students, researchers and professionals giving them an equal platform to discuss and exhibit their ideas. At our weekly symposium DISCO(urse) we find young minds interacting with each other and creating stimulating discourses through their presentations. Project Perceptron is another such realisation of this vision.
The goal is to provide the opportunities and challenges of adapting brain science to AI. We are committed to the development of brain research aimed at investigating the computational, psychological, and neuroscientific basis of cognition.
We present to you a platform where researchers from different departments can network to work on cross-domain projects, leading to research that can help in the development of the best applications of neurosciences. Our mission is to promote and mentor young minds to build a way for their better futures and aim to be the cornerstone for their growth. The Society encourages research and education and shall collaborate with existing public and private organizations to promote and encourage education and research in biomimicry and techno-mimicry. We will assist in the coordination of efforts or formulation of research and clinical programs.
